WE NEED YOUR HELP AT COMMUNITY SORTING SESSIONS

Our community clothes-sorting sessions have resumed, and we need your help! We are currently facing a 7-tonne backlog of unsorted clothing in our warehouse storage, waiting to be recirculated to our charity partners and other recycling channels. Visit HandsOn Hong Kong to sign up for volunteering and help us tackle this pile-up!

IN-PERSON ECF COMIC BOOK READINGS RESUME

With the easing of pandemic restrictions, we were finally able to return to in-person school activities in April! Through our comic book educational session for Primary 3 children at Diocesan Girls' Junior School, students learned about how clothes are interconnected with the environment, and were inspired by book characters Yoyo and Kevin to start adopting sustainable fashion habits like upcycling and donating their clothes.

Schools can order the comic book free of charge here, and students can access the story online through our read-along videos here.

REDRESS SHARES AT THE FAST FASHION FORUM

Redress’ Circular Fashion Programme Manager Corane Chu presented on the issue of textile waste in Hong Kong at the ‘Fast Fashion Forum: Current Situations and Solutions for Fast Fashion Waste in Hong Kong’ on 19 May, which was organised by MSc Environmental Management students of the University of Hong Kong and supported by the German Industry and Commerce Hong Kong.

We were joined by Edwin Keh, CEO of the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA), and other innovators in the responsible fashion sector such as Esquel Group and Yoonai.ai. The forum hosted discussions on the importance of raising awareness on local textile waste and innovative initiatives to foster a more circular infrastructure.
