Green Drinks: Cleaner Closet, Cleaner Planet: How HK is tackling textile waste

7pm, 10 October 2018, at Cafe 8, Central Ferry Pier No. 8

Together with Hong Kong Green Drinks we will be hosting an event to discuss the environmentally damaging issue of textile waste and how Hong Kong is planning to tackle it. Alongside the talk we will also be hosting a mini clothes swap, so be sure to bring along 1-10 items you don't wear anymore to swap them out for another one! Register for the event here.

THE SWAP

DROP: Bring 1-10 pieces of pre-loved clothing to the event
SWAP: Enjoy the talk while Redress team sorts and displays your items
SHOP: At the end of the evening, choose something new to take home, absolutely free!

BRING:
- Gently worn clothes, accessories, bags, or shoes
- Items should be in good condition, cleaned and folded, with pockets emptied 
- Clothes for any season, gender, or age are welcome

SKIP:
- Anything stained, broken, damaged, or dirty 
- Fur, underwear, socks, and corporate-event or promotional clothes

Any remaining items after the swap will be collected by Redress for sorting and redistribution to suitable recipients. Let’s close the loop together.

THE SPEAKER

ANNELEISE SMILLIE, Executive Director, Redress

Anneleise has 17 years of international experience in the non-profit sector working in Hong Kong, China and London. As Executive Director at Redress, she is focused on organisational development and working with the team to formulate new planning processes and strategies for sustainable growth, whilst focusing resources where they will have the greatest impact. Anneleise is an environmentalist at heart, and is passionate about reducing waste and promoting new models that create lasting social change.
