Do you have a closet full of clothes but always feel like you have nothing to wear?  Have you ever bought a piece of clothing, worn it once and then never again? Or maybe you never found an occasion to wear something you bought and the tag is still on? We think all these unwanted clothes in the back of your closet deserve a second life!

 After two successful events in Spain and the US, Christy Chow, winner of Hong Kong Human Rights Art Prize 2017 presents Second Life – a large-scale art installation in the form of a clothing exchange on 25 May at The Hive Sai Kung, Hong Kong.

We organised the ‘Get Redressed’ RBS workshop to provide lively educational content for RBS’ ‘Focused Women HK’ in order to engage women with the broader environmental issues contained in their wardrobes. The workshop introduced the fashion industry’s negative environmental impacts and provided a base to explore practical and creative solutions to dressing more sustainably.

We dialogued with the ‘Ladies of Luxury’ to address sustainability in the luxury sector, hosted by the KEE Club. REDRESSED: CELEBRITY SUSTAINABLE FASHION WORKSHOP

We worked with celebrity Carrie Lam and The EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2011 Winner, Janko Lam, on a consumer focused sustainable fashion workshop at E-max shopping mall. During this, designer Janko reconstructed Carrie’s pre-worn and pre-loved secondhand clothing into ‘new’ pieces to educate and inspire the live audience.

We organised the Undressed: Laundry care Workshop, in collaboration with Miele, to educate consumers about the environmental impacts caused by clothes’ washing, drying and ironing, at Miele’s Exclusive Private Lounge. The workshop focused on the positive steps that consumers can take to lighten the environmental load caused by their washing their clothes.

FOREVER REDRESSED AT HARVEY NICHOLS

We presented our the Forever REDRESSED Exhibition at Hong Kong’s Harvey Nichols containing six prominent Hong Kong fashion designers’ reconstructed secondhand garments. Many of our contributing designers sourced their raw materials from Hong Kong’s used clothes recycling bins in an effort to drive consumer awareness about waste reduction and about more sustainable clothing disposal.

THE 3% MOUNTAIN

The 3% Mountain was a six meter high installation of creatively displayed secondhand clothes that represented just 3% of the average textile waste going into Hong Kong’s landfills on a daily basis. We exhibited this impressive mountain in June, 2011 at Hong Kong’s iconic Star Ferry.

Our exhibition on China’s rise in sustainable fashion took place at the Ethical Fashion Show at Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris. The exhibition presented the major drivers for sustainable fashion in China and revealed the Chinese sustainable fashion designers who are making ripples in the world’s largest garment manufacturing nation.

ECOCHIC GENEVA FASHION SHOW

We organised the highly-acclaimed EcoChic Geneva, in partnership with The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The fashion show featured 52 prominent fashion designers from 40 countries who united on the catwalk at the Palais des Nations, home of the United Nations Office in Geneva. The designers’ inspiring garments demonstrated various biodiversity-conserving materials to an influential audience.

We co-organised with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) a one-day seminar entitled Redefining Sustainability in the International Agenda at the Palais des Nations, home of the United Nations Office in Geneva. Our timely seminar the United Nation’s International Year of Biodiversity provided a collaborative platform for the fashion and luxury industries to discuss their role in promoting and supporting biodiversity conservation through their internal operations and global supply chains.
