In celebration of the launch of the Redress Design Award’s 10th cycle, a special Retrospective Exhibition, showcasing the creations of each of the nine cycles’ past winners, will be on display at The Mills in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong, from 9 to 19 January 2020.

The Redress Design Award, the world's largest sustainable fashion competition, celebrates 10 emerging designers from around the world at this exhibition, displaying their high fashion collections made with unwanted materials from discarded wedding dresses and workers' uniforms to bedsheets and camping equipment.
During the 24 Hour Sort-a-thon we are aiming to sort through all of the clothing collected in the Get Redressed Clothing Drive (forecasted as over 10 tonnes) in just 24 hours, with the help of 25 teams of corporate volunteers. Over the whole 24-hour event (12pm Friday 22 November - 12pm Saturday 23 November), the 25 teams will simultaneously sort clothes to a fun backdrop of live music, great food and drinks whilst meeting new people, learning about the issue of textile waste in Hong Kong and directly benefiting people in need.

The Redress Design Award is the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. In September, 10 emerging designers from around the world came to Hong Kong to showcase their collections, made with unwanted materials from worn wedding dresses and workers’ uniforms to bedsheets and sleeping bags, which were transformed into high fashion pieces.

On Tuesday 12 November, Redress Executive Director, Anneleise Smillie, will be the featured speaker for Volume 5 of Green Queen's UN Sustainable Development Goal Vegan Dinner Series, in support of SDG #12 - Responsible Consumption and Production. Taking place at ROOTS, which celebrates a mix of French and Cantonese cuisine, the evening will see the kitchen serving delicious plant-based plates alongside an educational and inspiring talk around SDG #12.

On Sunday 17 November, 4:30pm to 6:30pm, The R Collective Founder & CEO, Christina Dean, will be sharing her views about how The R Collective is reducing waste at the 'Closing the Loop' panel discussion at The Mills' Future Fashion Lab exhibition. Alongside other creative sustainable luminaries, including Kayla Wong from Basics For Basics, accessories designer Michelle Holder, Rachel Clowes from The Sustainable Sequin Company, and Oliver Wayman from Bottletop, discover more about their quest towards a more sustainable future for fashion.

Design for Recyclability: Can the intimates sector reach circularity?
Circularity is the buzz word of the fashion industry, but achieving it can seem like a quest for the holy grail. This panel will explore how realistic circularity is for the intimates sector, and look at the challenges and opportunities for both extending the life of garments and increasing end of life recovery for recycling, through the lens of decision making in design.

Our friends over at NIDO ASIA are holding a secondhand sale in Sheung Wan, and if you have some unworn wardrobe gems you are looking to cash in, you can sell too! All unsold stock will be donated to Redress as part of our #getredressed city wide clothing drive throughout the month of October.
Our city-wide clothing drive is expected to collect in excess of 7 tonnes of clothing donations. Redress rely on the help of volunteers to help us carefully sort through our second-hand clothing donations for re-distribution to our charity beneficiaries - can you help?
